Simile

A simile is always a good way to help the reader to imagine something or someone in the story.
A simile is when you say something is like something else e.g. "Her teeth were like daggers".

Metaphor

A metaphor is another great way to help the reader to imagine something or someone in the story.
A metaphor on the other hand is stronger and more effective than a simile because it's saying something is something else e.g. "Her teeth are daggers".

Personification

Personification is an excellent way to bring something to life, to give it characteristics of its own.
Personification is when you take something that is not alive and give it a movement or speech e.g. "The tree danced" or "The wind whistled".

Onomatopoeia

Onomatopoeia is a way of giving the reader a sense of actually being in the story.
Onomatopoeia is a word that sounds like the sound e.g. "Boom", "Pow", "Crash" or "Bang".
